My riding gear

I feel I need to contribute, if I could I would have better gear but I have what I have and it has worked in summer and winter in Blighty in the rain and sun and I am confident it will work on our road trip too.

I have a Matt black shoei flip front lid, with a flip down dark visor so I can pretend I’m a jet pilot. I put a new visor in last year and it is not too scratched yet.

It is a bit noisy but I use ear plugs so that is not a problem.

it has reflective bits on it from when I rode with it in France, they like you to have reflective bits on your helmet so the paralytic french can see where to aim their 2CV’s.

My jacket is a brown Italian thing with hard and CE armour, bought because it was styled for the “fuller figure sir”

I bought it after years of a cheap Frank Thomas “bin liner with padding” fabric suit, which could have been designed as a wearable sauna, with pockets.

I have used it on trips to Gibraltar and The Orkney islands, plus numerous more local rides and it has done me proud, gonna slather it in Renapur before the trip.

Won’t make it any more water proof but the otters will just slide off.

I have a pair of motorcycle boots.

But they are shit and the Velcro doesn’t work any more so instead I shall be sporting a new pair of Karrimor waterproof brown leather walking boots, to go with the brown leather jacket, rudimentary foot protection and walking too!

mmmm, new walking boots.

I have a pair of summer gloves I have been wearing year round with heated grips for the past few years, same make as the jacket just cos they’re comfy and thin enough to find a clit through.

Have some warmer ones as well I may bring.

To protect my leggies I have some cheap Kevlar lined jeans with CE armour which usually ends up somewhere near my knees. However they are comfy and now I’ve lost some weight they even do up!

I also have a weird mesh jacket, a cheap frank thomas thing which i bought during a heat wave cos it was that or be boil in the bag long pig.

Not sure I’ll be wearing the shorts but I’m loving the stance.
