Day 16 – Wet Wet Wet

Start – Someblokes Willy End – Neah Bay, WA. 254 miles Total distance: 4521 miles If you were to replace every tree in British Columbia with a plum-sized rain drop, that is what fell on me while riding today. I say “fell”, what I mean is forced into my soul by a mean, mean devil. As MyMateChris said, at 60 miles an hour, it is like riding in to a fire hose. We did get to have breakfast with some good friends from the plumbing industry, Steve and Rachel Egner, in Edmunds, which was fun. There was a ferry ride from Edmunds to Kingston which was pleasant and we joined th 101 highway at its northern source. We will ride the 101 along the coast through Washington and Oregon and California. Ultimately, we arrived in the small town of Neah Bay and hiked through a charming, twisted forest, clearly populated by elves and the tree peoples to Flattery point, the most north-western point in the contiguous U.S. I saw a whale, which is always nice. We rented a cabin for the night which we turned in to a hot damp sauna. We turned on all the heaters to full temperature to dry out our sodden clothes.
