Day 7 : North- So many trees!

Start La Salle Lake

End : Big Lake B.C. (near Chetwynd)

506 kms

Totals distance 3542 kms 2200 miles)

Temperatures 8.5C to 21C.

Having left the Rockies we are now heading North in earnest. Today we entered the Northern region of the Province of British Columbia.

This means two things, firstly there are a lot less cars on the road and secondly, it is getting colder.

We had Breakfast in Prince George (named for the buffoonish character in Blackadder the Third), after a quick 150 kilometers in single digit temperatures with no cars on the road. We arrived cold and hungry but thoroughly exhilarated, ready to jump in to a nice hot plate of bacon, eggs and pancakes.

Life has got in to a steady rhythm. I wake up just before dawn, jump out of bed and make coffee. We are pretty proficient at dismantling our camp and loading up the bikes, we generally hit the road at about 7:00am to 7:30am. Our goal is to do about 500kms (300 miles) per day with the first 150 before brekkie at around 10:00.

Mid morning to early afternoon is spent riding with stops for gas, bodily functions and photo opportunities. I did actually have a lovely little nap by a river this afternoon.

We generally stop around 2pm in a town to stock up on supplies for dinner and try and determine where our next camp site should be.

The bikes are running well and we have had no problems except the rear indicator on the Sprint broke so we did a road side repair with gaffer tape and a stick for a splint, the service engine icon lit up on the Tiger but a quick text to Lawrence at LG Moto confirmed this is just for scheduling the next service (which I did before I left).

We continue to enjoy the roads and the ever changing scenery. Now we are in a continuing sea of forestry, mixed pine and Aspen and so much water. There are lakes and rivers everywhere.
