Day 13 – On the Road

Not all the days can be epic, even though most of them have been. Some days on a trip like this are going to be ordinary. Also, when you have been to Alaska, the rest pales a little.

Today started with a delicious breakfast in a lovely little cafe in Stewart, B.C. on the Alaskan border. I had a Wild BC Mushroom omelette. And coffee.

We then set off on a grey morning with the threat of rain. The sun never really came out but neither did the rain (not really). We had a gruelling stretch of road, about 10 miles of nasty gravel road works with a lot of trucks and R.V.s and the dust was horrendous.

The dark skies, the poor road and general fatigue had us stop early today in a pretty run down motel.

The bikes are looking grimy and tired, a lot like their riders.

I did laundry in the bathroom.

Yesterday, I saw a bear catching fish!
