America is big, really big! I mean, you may think it is a long way down the road to the chemist but that’s peanuts compared to America….
Today was spent covering some of that distance. We exchanged pine forests for long straight roads through high desert and grass lands with mountains in the distance that never got any closer. The roads are in great shape and the traffic is mostly pretty light.
There are little towns all along the way, most of them have gas stations. We stopped at one for a bathroom break, we both had about half a tank so we decided to keep going, because as MyMateChris said, “..might as well keep going. There will be tons of gas stations along the way…”
In life it is important to understand that how things are is not always an indication of how they will be and although it is reasonable to make assumptions based on your current situation, you should still plan for change.
An example of that would be leaving a perfectly good gas station without filling up and then discovering it is 90 miles until you see another gas station.
My heart leaped when I saw a sign that said gas station 8 miles, my dashboard computer at the time gave me 14 miles to empty.
Now, I do carry a small extra gas bottle but I doubt it is good for more than 10 miles.
We made camp in Yakima canyon in a “good enough” camp site by a very cool and fast flowing river. Chris made lamb chops with grilled peppers and onions which we enjoyed by the river. Delicious!
Yummmyyy lamb chops…..sounds good…..
Just wow
