A little list

Helmet. Spare visor? Probably not but something to consider.nah. I am pretty sure we have bike shops along the way in US. Now I’ve said this, I bet we brake a fucking visor and you will blame me.

Gloves. 2 pairs? One my normal summer ones and a pair of warmer ones. Yes. Summer and winter. I need to buy new gloves, mine are starting to call apart.

Sealskin socks, not really made of seals but neoprene so warm and dry if it gets cold and wet. I have heard that a baby otter works quite well. Just stick your foot down its throat.

Other socks, pants, T-shirt’s.

Spare glasses. I was just getting my eyes tested yesterday. I am getting bifocals for the road, never had em before, just use readers. Just trying varifocals at the moment but not getting on with them.

Leatherman tool.

Sleeping bag. Er, well, yes.

Lightweight tarp for shelter, to cook under, sit under. Camouflage in case we need to hide the bikes.

Knife and fork and spoon set. I have a full set of camping cookware and eating ware,  is it still crockery if it is plastic? Plasticery? The cookware and crockery worked out well on the test trip. I think some proper mugs might be nice. Are you a coffee person?

Firestarter stick thing. Cigarette lighter for when it doesn’t work. I have one of those with a loveley fold up grill set I just bought. Nice looking grill, looking forward to charring lumps of meat on that.

Solar panel phone charger that I bought and have never used. Ooh

Sandals. Flip flops. I want to bring hiking boots too but they take up a lot of room? Prob wear work boots for riding and walking and sandals for lounging, hoping I will be able to operate gear change in steelies. I wear full moto boots for riding, proper Mad Max Shit, I think I will bring trainers and flip flops for hiking.

Swim shorts. Or Speedo

Fluorescent waterproof jacket and trousers. I have a new rain suit I got at the bike mart. I have lovely new rubber yellow suit from work, you’ll have to ride in front in the rain or I’ll blind you.

Bin bags to keep dry things dry and wet things off of dry things.

Roll top dry sacks. I have big 60 gallon roll top dry bag that I can put my tent, bed roll and chair in.

Maps? Do we need maps when we have phones? Are American road maps useful at the scale we would need so we didn’t have to bring hundreds of them? I have been thinking about this and also a GPS thing?  I really not sure.

Road atlas, or part of one?

Cable ties, in case we need to restrain a bad guy, or a rabid rabbit.

Bungee cords. And bungee webs, I have 2.

Roll of para cord. I have some

Chair. I have 2 chairs, I bought a new one because my old one is bulky and, more importantly,  kind of low, which means I might end up living at our first campsite forever. I will compile photos of the spare stuff I have and see if you want to utilize it? Yeah, anything you have a spare of means I have less to carry over the Atlantic. I swapped the smaller one out today for a bigger one, still fits in my dry bag.

Medicine, my meds and emergency meds.Do you use allergy meds? Only anti histamine for when I get bitten.

Toothbrush, toothpaste and Vaseline for those long nights together in the tent.

Another tent. I have two, I bought a new 1 man which I will try out this weekend. It may be too small for both of us? I have an older 2 man which I think is in good shape, might need new pegs (they always need fucking pegs). We can whittle pegs from sticks, or just buy them. Better to have 2 tents I think, plenty of room on the bikes for them. I just looked out my old 2 man, it is really a family tent and probably too big. My 1 man is pretty small. I think a 1 man and a 2 is good. We can put gear in tent with you and/or share when it is wet. Do you have a good 2 man. I can probably borrow one or get a cheap one?

Huge tent, my truck is inside it!

Sticking plasters, antiseptic wipes, antiseptic cream, bandages, steri strips, tourniquet, for when the bear gets me arm.

Pain killers, lots and lots of pain killers, for the whole “bear got me arm” scenario and/or for the aches of the ride. I plan on getting prescription grade ibuprofen from the dr. And heroin. Yummy. Like the camping kitchen, I suspect the moto first aid kit will grow as we go. Lots of opportunities to stop at supermarkets. I will have a pretty good kit before we head off.

Snood/scarf. Gay! Gay and warm. I have a ski mask which is not gay and can help if we need to do some mercenary terrorism along the way.

Thermal pants. YES I just invested in some top quality thermals. I met an RV couple who said Alaska is always cold.

Buy a thermal top or just rely on lots of layers? I have thermal top, highly recommended it. I also bought heated hoodie. I will try out this weekend and see if I recommend it. Have you seen the inflatable jacket, you just blow down a tube to inflate it and supposed to keep you really warm, and no batteries. I have seen those, I can’t stand that horrible vacant stare and the big round mouth.

Boots for riding. I am a big scaredie-cat. I ride in full moto-cross boots. Which means that I might need to pack some not flip flop footwear as well.

Armoured jeans. I have touring pants with full armor. I will be packing regular Jean’s for camp/ going out to the club.

Leather jacket. Nope! I have full Dainese touring kit.

Auxiliary 12volt/usb socket that I bought and never used, to install on Sprint? I have an adapter for the trickle charger connection. I have never been sure that it works? I got new battery and connections, it might be good. I will try it out.

Ground sheet to sit on. I have this.

Towel, because …… towel. I use sarong because it dries quickly and takes up less space. I have spare if you like? Is there a nutritious corner to suck? Anyhow yes, always wanted to wear a dress. It is not a dress of your tits are showing.

Hats, wooley one for the cold nights, cap for the sunny days and one with fruit stuck on it for the ball. Yes. I like to use a stretched out otter. Just stick your head in its arsehole.

Cooking stuff? This I have. I bought cook ware and a loveley little grill. I do need to get some bbq stucky-prong-tong-things.

Torch and charging lead.

Battery lantern and batteries. I was chatting with a bloke and he said that he packed way too much stuff and ended up sending his lantern home (off you go). I am a believer in going to sleep at sundown and getting up at dawn. I know you like to get up at Dawn.

Inflatable seat cover.

Sheepskin seat cover? Supposed to be more comfy and seems to be essential kit on a GS. Oh happy day, I got two at the bike mart. Our Botty cheeks are saved.

To make your bottom smile.

Handlebar mounted GPS/iPhone waterproof pouch thing that I bought and never used.

Bear spray? I plan on just hiding behind you.

Bare spray?

Hammock and mosquito net? I have a hammock.

Mosquito repellent. YES

Anti histamines.

Side stand pad to stop bike falling over. GOOD CALL.

Jumpers. I think the heated hoodie takes care of this.

Ear plugs. I have never used, typically cant make em stay in my big old ear holes. Do you recommend? I always ride with ear plugs these days, especially on motorways, I find it less tiring and Riding the Harley-Davidson without them damaged my hearing, though it was stupidly loud. What do you use, I have never found anything that fits in my enormous earhole and stays in all day.

Maybe this will work, I found it in Kimberly’s bedside drawer?

WD40 for Wet bike electrics.

Wrist brace.

Duct tape for abductions

Sun screen

Ice box/cooler. For food and water/ drinks.

Bear canister? We probably need this. The triumph hard cases are probably not quite enough. Most camp sites have storage lockers for food. Raccoons are more of an issue than bears. We may go off site a bit in which case we will become more in the food chain.

Here are some things I found I needed from the test run:

[]Oven Mitt[]

mallett []tongs[]bowls[]helmet bag for bugs.[]vegetable oil []409[]hand sanitizer[]seasonings []the first aid kit needs allergy medsMad river campground, six river national forest. About 300 miles out. Take turning for ruth lake, right after mad river hamburger joint.

I was going through some old kit and found these fuel cans. They take up space but could give us a little extra breathing room? I got down to “9 miles to go” on the dash on the last trip. Some of these gas stations are quite far apart.

  .

2 lightweight tarps or Bashas and a roll of tent repair tape.
